Turks and Caicos Some Must Know Before You Go!

A Turks and Caicos Trip

Before you go to Turks and Caicos Islands!

Before You Go To Turks and Caicos

Major Airport:  Providenciales International Airport (PLS)

Visa: US and Other allowable country Passport don’t need a visa.

Money: US dollars and Credit cards preferably (Visa, Master and American Express). Your Discover and other credit cards you can leave them home, because most to all places don’t take Discover credit. If you don’t have one of the major credit cards, you may need to get one if you don’t have or want to use your bank debit cards.

Driving: Driving is on the left side of the road like in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world. I found that it is easier to drive here than in Jamaica or in the United Kingdom, because they drive much slower in the Turks and Caicos. Always remember to GIVE WAY (for many other countries it is Yield).

Renter Cars: There are no Enterprise Renter car service, what you have are the local car renter car, AVIS, Hertz and Dollar(The locals the in Turks said that “Dollar Renter Car is one of the oldest car rental and the Island and most people don’t use them anymore  because of their poor services.”)

Bring with you: Sunscreens, bug replants swim suits, diving gears and happiness.

While you are in Turks and Caicos Pros and Cons

People: Very friendly, doesn’t haggle you for small change.
People: Make sure you know where you are going, because if you asked someone you may I don’t know. Basically get a map, it is your best friend on the move, since the place is so small.

Airport Immigration: Long lines but once you get to the Immigration Officer it a quick process. You must know the name, phone number and address of your place of stay whether it is a: villa, resort, hotel or of relatives and friends. This is very important because, the Immigration officer more than likely don’t your location of stay.
Airport Immigration: The plane landed about 100 feet from the gate(needs some upgrading). There are no direct connection with the airport and the plane, so you have to walk outside to get into the airport building. Although it feels like you are the President coming out of air-force one, I would rather have the plane link to the building where we can walk into the building, rather than down a flight of steps, about 100 feet walk across the tarmac and into the airport building.  Lines too long with no one guiding you to where you need to go.

Resorts/Hotels: Very nice clean and worth every penny.
Resorts/Hotels: Can be a bit crowded, especially at the pool, and at the beach. Can get a bit noisy after hours with bar patrons going to or coming from their rooms.

Villas/Private Rentals: Very nice clean, quiet and worth every penny.

Villas/Private Rentals: Away from the beach, most times needs a car to go to and from the beach.
