Truck Too Large for Bridges, Tonnels or Overpass

Commercial vehicles or not, you must know the height or with of your over size automobile.

HEIGHT
There is no Federal vehicle height requirement for Commercial Motor Vehicles. Therefore, States may set their own height restrictions. Some standard vehicle height are between 10 feet or (3.1 meters) to 14 feet or (4.27 meters). However, exceptions may be granted for specific roads due to lower overhead clesrances.

WIDTH
Please note that Federal law provided a width requirement of 96 inches or (2.44 meters) for travrling on interstate highway. However, there an allowable increased in width size to 102 inches or (2.6 meters) for all vehicles.

LENGHTH
There is also a lenght requirements which varies from state, so you must know each state requirements if you are a statewire truck driver. This is very inportant especially when you are operating double tracter trailers and you can consult each state’s DOT for their specific length reqirement. Bellow is a list of each states and length requirements and please consults any states for any updates.
